Cune Winery

There was always wine produced in the general region of Rioja but it wasn’t that much or that good.  But due to a blight that killed majority of the grapes in the rest of Europe starting in the 1850s, by the early 1870s Rioja was starting to really take off as a region of quality and commercial production. The Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (Wine Company of Norther Spain) was founded in the town of Haro by the Real de Asua brothers in 1879 and has since belonged to the direct descendants of the family. CVNE is considered by Jancis Robinson and many others to be part of the “Rioja Aristocracy”. Being founded in 1879, CVNE is one of the founders of the modern Rioja region and is also one of the oldest wineries in Rioja.

Today, the CVNE winery is composed of 22 buildings, which include the original 1879 premises, as well as the plant designed and built by the Eiffel architectural studio in 1909. CVNE is pioneer with the construction of the first concrete fermentation cellar in Spain and first use of gravity fed vinification. The winery combines tradition, quality and innovation, it’s Imperial Gran Reserva selected as the number one wine in the Wine Spectator annual Top 100.

Lustau Sherry

Bodegas Lustau is considered a world-class benchmark for top-quality wines.  Lustau has recently been awarded with multiple medals and trophies, being Best Sherry Producer in 2014 and 2016 awarded by the International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Executive Chef Tony Miller

Chef Tony joins FISH Honolulu with a depth of culinary experience, most recently from Herringbone, as well as, renowned restaurants locally and on the US mainland. Chef Tony has crafted a Spanish-inspired 5-course menu to pair with selected Cune wines. Like our previous sold-out wine dinners, this event is sure to sell out and will be a fun event!
