Free protective face masks and hand sanitizers will be available to the community this Friday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in #OurKakaakko. The public may receive up to two non-medical blue surgical mask packs (5 masks per pack) and two bottles of hand sanitizer. These items can be picked up at The Barn at SALT at Our Kaka’ako. A second pick up location will be at Lana Lane Studios off of Auahi Street. With the common goal of flattening the COVID-19 curve in Hawaii, the #Masks4allHawaii distribution is a collaboration between Kamehameha Schools, Every1ne Hawaii, POW! WOW! Hawaii, , and the 2020 Census Hawaii.
All masks distributed will be free of charge and will be available while supplies last. The first distribution area (The Barn) will be a walk-up. The second distribution area (Lana Lane Studios) will have distribution heading in each direction to minimize traffic congestion. Masks are provided by Every1ne Hawaii and are non-medical blue surgical masks that are not FDA-approved. For these reasons, this inventory is not permissible for use in hospitals nor by medical professionals. Although these are not considered medical grade face masks, we have conferred with the medical professionals on our team that these masks are suitable for public use intended to keep respiratory droplets within, not infectious disease out.
